SSC Stenographer Selection Process
To get selected for the post of SSC Stenographer, candidates have to go through the following stages-
- Written Exam
- Shorthand Typing
- Merit List
SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern
The exam pattern is as follows –
- The SSC Stenographer written exam will be of multiple choice type.
- The total time duration of the exam is 2 hours and 2 hours 40 minutes for visually handicapped candidates.
- The question will be in both English and Hindi languages except for Part-III.
- There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
- The minimum qualifying marks in Computer Based Examination are as follows – General (UR): 30%, OBC/OBC EWS: 25% and all other categories (SC, ST, PWD, ESM, ETC): 20%
Note: Candidates who have qualified the written examination will be called for the Computer Skill Test.

Candidates who are successful in the written exam will be called for the SSC Stenographer Skill Test for final selection. In the Skill Test exam, candidates will have to take a ten minute typing test on computer with a speed of 100 words per minute for Grade C candidates and 80 words per minute for Grade D candidates. The SSC Stenographer Final Result will be released after the written examination and skill test, and the candidates who have cleared both these exams will be entitled to the appointment letter.
